Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today inaugurated the Digital Forensic Division and Advance Equipment Laboratory at the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) in Dharamshala. The new facilities, built with modern infrastructure worth around Rs. 3 crore, include advanced tools capable of extracting and analyzing data even from damaged mobile phones. An additional advanced equipment laboratory, costing approximately Rs. 1.05 crore, has been set up to ensure high-precision forensic analysis. The total value of the equipment installed in these labs is around Rs. 1.50 crore.
These facilities are expected to improve transparency, reliability, and efficiency in forensic investigations across northern Himachal Pradesh. The Chief Minister said that the new division will assist investigative agencies in preserving and examining evidence, especially in cases where the punishment is seven years or more.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the new building of the District Panchayat Resource Centre (DPRC), Kangra, constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.92 crore. He also laid the foundation stone for the DPO staff quarters of Zila Parishad, Kangra in Dharamshala, which will be built at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.26 crore.
