Himachal Pradesh CM presides over Lal Bahadur Shastri Govt Medical College Nerchowk’s first convocation
Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, presided over the first convocation ceremony of Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College Nerchowk in district Mandi. Newly passed-out doctors congratulated and employment opportunities discussed
The Chief Minister congratulated the newly passed-out doctors and acknowledged the challenges faced by doctors due to the saturation in the profession. He emphasized the importance of hard work in dealing with challenges and achieving success. He said that the state government is working towards providing ample employment opportunities to doctors despite limited job opportunities in the government sector.
Introduction of robotic surgery and modern cancer hospital (Sukhu Presides Over Medical College)
Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the government is introducing robotic surgery in Shimla, Tanda, Nerchowk, Hamirpur medical colleges and that a modern cancer hospital is going to be built in Hamirpur.
Emphasis on technological advancements and transparent government procurement
Furthermore, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for doctors to keep pace with the rapid technological advancements in medical science. The state government has constituted the Medical Service Corporation, which will bring transparency to government procurement.
Efforts towards sustainable development
The Chief Minister also discussed the efforts towards sustainable development, including the use of UV-based technology for water purifiers in all drinking water schemes and the imposition of water cess on power generation in hydropower projects being operating in the state. He said that revenue of Rs. 1800 crores would be received in a year from the imposition of the water cess.
Promotion of tourism and cultural program
The state government is promoting tourism in the state, with Kangra being declared the tourism capital, and efforts being made to promote tourism in Mandi and other areas. During the ceremony, a cultural program was presented by the students of the college.
