Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda chaired a review meeting of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan with the Delhi Government, stressing that TB elimination can only be achieved through cooperation and strong Jan Bhagidari, not isolated efforts.
He said public representatives such as MPs, MLAs and councillors must be actively involved in monitoring TB cases, improving detection, ensuring treatment adherence and mobilising community support. Reiterating the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he emphasised coordinated implementation instead of working in silos.
The Minister also called for greater participation of MY Bharat volunteers, stronger ward-level monitoring, and wider use of AI-enabled handheld X-ray machines for early TB detection. He urged regular joint reviews and simplified communication to ensure effective public outreach.
Officials from the National Health Mission presented Delhi’s progress, noting large-scale screening, X-rays, molecular testing, and TB case notifications under the campaign, supported by frontline health workers and community teams.
The meeting highlighted the need for stronger coordination among the Centre, Delhi Government, health institutions and civil society to accelerate progress towards a TB-free India.
