World Heritage Day, observed every year on 18 April, is also known as the International Day for Monuments and Sites. It was established by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and is supported by UNESCO to raise awareness about the importance of preserving and protecting cultural heritage around the world. The day highlights the need to safeguard monuments, archaeological sites, and historic structures that reflect human history and identity. It also encourages global efforts to conserve heritage sites for future generations through education, community participation, and sustainable preservation practices.
