Diwali at Bal Ashram: CM Shares Joy with Children

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu celebrated the festival of Diwali with children at the Tutikandi Bal Ashram today, spreading festive cheer and reaffirming the state government’s commitment to child welfare.

Warmly welcomed by the children and staff with traditional earthen lamps and vibrant cultural performances, the Chief Minister interacted with the residents, distributed sweets and gifts, and extended heartfelt Deepawali greetings.

“Diwali is a celebration of joy, compassion, and unity. These children are our collective responsibility, and they deserve love, dignity, and every opportunity to thrive,” said the Chief Minister during his visit.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, he highlighted that all orphaned children have been adopted by the state as “children of Himachal,” with the government covering their education expenses and providing ₹4,000 per month as pocket money.

CM Sukhu also announced key new initiatives:

  • Upgradation of residential facilities in all Bal Ashrams across the state.

  • New welfare schemes focused on orphans and vulnerable children to ensure their holistic development.

  • Annual Sports Day on 14th November (Children’s Day), with dedicated budgetary support.

  • Educational tours outside the state for Bal Ashram students to broaden their exposure and learning experiences.

He encouraged the children to focus on their education and aspire to serve the nation, bringing pride to the state.
