CM Sukhu today chaired a meeting with senior officers of the Health Department, Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, and the Directorate of Medical Education to review various issues related to medical education in the state, including the incident at IGMC on 22 December.
The Chief Minister sought detailed information regarding the incident and directed that the inquiry be completed by 24 December 2025, with prompt action taken based on its findings. Emphasizing professional conduct, he said that polite and calm behavior reflects both individual character and the reputation of the institution. He stressed that indiscipline would not be tolerated.
Sukhu also instructed the Directorate of Medical Education to begin induction training for doctors joining senior residency. He reviewed the senior residency process and issued necessary guidelines to strengthen medical education.
Highlighting the government’s initiatives over the past three years, the Chief Minister said Himachal Pradesh is adopting world-class standards to improve working conditions for doctors and paramedical staff. He noted that over ₹3,000 crore has been allocated to expand health infrastructure and modernize medical equipment, replacing devices that have been in use for over two decades.
Health Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil offered valuable suggestions related to medical education during the meeting, further supporting the state’s vision of making Himachal Pradesh a model state in healthcare.
