The Himachal Pradesh government has approved the formation of nine new Gram Panchayats in Shimla district, following the restructuring and division of existing panchayat areas, with the goal of strengthening rural governance.
As per the official notification, Mandyalu has been established as a new Gram Panchayat with its Panchayat office at Katog, while Kotidgar has been set up in Totu block, with its Panchayat office at Bhagali.
The Dhamun Panchayat has been reorganised, leading to the creation of three distinct panchayats: Dhamun, Khalag, and Kotidgar.
In Theog subdivision, the Gadaha Gram Panchayat has been notified, with its Panchayat office located at Gadaha Kufri.
Under Rohru subdivision, two new Gram Panchayats – Kavali and Sundernagar – have been formed.
In Chohra subdivision, three Gram Panchayats – Dhamwari, Bhadwadi-Ghadwadi, and Maktot – have been constituted, with the Panchayat office for Maktot situated at Makchonchli.
Additionally, Tikar has been established as a new Gram Panchayat under Kupvi subdivision, and Chhalog under Chopal subdivision.
Officials highlighted that the creation of these new panchayats will enhance local governance, ensure better implementation of development programs, and provide easier administrative access for residents of remote rural areas.
