The Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science & Technology (DST) has extended financial support to InfinityX Innovations Private Limited, Bengaluru, for its project on automated battery swapping stations for electric vehicles (EVs). The initiative aims to accelerate EV adoption by developing an indigenous, scalable battery swapping ecosystem.

The project focuses on IoT-enabled automated swapping stations capable of replacing a vehicle battery in under 40 seconds, tackling one of the biggest hurdles in EV adoption—long charging times. The technology is designed for commercial fleets and last-mile delivery operations, offering high thermal stability, operational reliability, and modular battery architecture compatible with multiple vehicle platforms.

With TDB support, InfinityX Innovations will set up a manufacturing facility in Bengaluru to produce next-generation batteries and swapping stations. The initiative is expected to strengthen India’s EV infrastructure, enable standardized and interoperable battery networks, and reduce reliance on imported technology.

Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary of TDB, said that efficient, scalable charging alternatives are key to expanding India’s electric mobility ecosystem. He emphasized that innovations like automated battery swapping can transform commercial EV operations while supporting self-reliance in clean mobility technologies.

The company’s CEO and Founder noted that reducing battery swap time to under 40 seconds makes EV recharging comparable to conventional fuel refills, improving operational efficiency and accessibility for fleet operators and individual users.
