A delegation of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Himachal Pradesh, led by Chief General Manager Vivek Pathania, met Governor Kavinder Gupta at Raj Bhavan (Lok Bhavan) today. Senior officials of the bank were also part of the delegation.
During the interaction, NABARD officials apprised the Governor about the institution’s ongoing work in the state, with a focus on strengthening rural infrastructure, promoting agriculture and watershed development, expanding financial inclusion, and supporting livelihood generation activities.
The Governor noted that NABARD has been playing a significant role in accelerating rural development and reinforcing the agricultural base of Himachal Pradesh. He said such institutions are crucial in empowering farmers, encouraging self-employment opportunities, and improving living standards in rural communities.
He further emphasized the need to expand natural farming practices, skill development initiatives, rural entrepreneurship, and women empowerment programmes in the state. Stressing balanced growth in the hill region, he said robust rural infrastructure and sustainable livelihood options are essential for long-term development.
Governor Kavinder Gupta also highlighted the importance of adopting innovative and technology-driven approaches in agriculture to enhance productivity and improve farmers’ income. He appreciated NABARD’s contribution towards inclusive growth and expressed confidence that the institution will continue to play a key role in the state’s development.
