Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the Health Department to prepare a comprehensive Nutrition Policy by 31 May this year, aimed at strengthening the vision of a Fit Himachal and improving awareness on nutritional health across the state.

Chairing a review meeting, the Chief Minister said Himachal Pradesh could become the first state in the country to implement such a policy and stressed the need for widespread public awareness on balanced nutrition.

CM Sukhu also emphasized digitisation in the health sector and directed that patient records be made available online for faster and paperless services. He said this will eliminate the need for physical slips and reports.

He instructed a pilot project at IGMC, Shimla, to digitise patient data in five departments—Pathology, Radiology, Mycology, Biochemistry and Pharmacy—before scaling it up to other medical colleges.

The Chief Minister said the state government is working on a ₹3000 crore plan to upgrade healthcare infrastructure with modern equipment. He also informed that ₹75 crore has been approved for automated labs in three medical colleges, while steps are being taken to double senior resident doctor posts to strengthen hospital services.
