Young readers, aspiring writers, storytellers, and performers are set to take centre stage as the Department of Language & Culture, Himachal Pradesh, in collaboration with Keekli Charitable Trust, prepares to host Mimansa – Children’s Literature Festival 2026 from 19 to 21 August 2026 at the historic Gaiety Theatre, Shimla.
The three-day literary extravaganza will bring together students, educators, authors, and literature enthusiasts for an enriching journey into the world of books, creativity, and imagination. Renowned children’s author Shobha Tharoor Srinivasan will inaugurate the festival as the Chief Guest, inspiring young minds through her presence and literary contributions.
Designed to foster reading habits, creative expression, critical thinking, and meaningful engagement with literature, the festival will feature a diverse programme of author interactions, literary discussions, workshops, storytelling sessions, and inter-school competitions. Students will have a rare opportunity to interact with acclaimed writers and literary experts while showcasing their own talents on a prestigious platform.
Schools across the region have been invited to participate in the festival and nominate students for the various competitions. Participating institutions have been requested to clearly mention the names of students under each competition category while submitting registration forms to ensure smooth coordination and event management.
Calling Mimansa 2026 a celebration of young imagination and literary exploration, the team behind the initiative expressed hope for enthusiastic participation from schools and students, making the festival a memorable cultural and educational experience.
