Governor Kavinder Gupta attended the closing ceremony of the National-level Shoolini Fair in Solan on Sunday, describing the festival as a symbol of Himachal Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage, traditions and faith. Lady Governor Bindu Gupta was also present.
The Governor congratulated the district administration and the Shoolini Mela Committee for successfully organising the historic fair. He said such festivals help preserve the state’s cultural identity, strengthen social harmony and promote tourism.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil felicitated the Governor during the event.
During the event, the Governor inducted new lifetime members into the Solan Red Cross Society by pinning badges and appreciated their commitment to humanitarian service. He also released a commemorative magazine highlighting the historical, cultural and religious significance of the Shoolini Fair.
The Governor later witnessed a cultural programme featuring Himachali folk performances.
Earlier in the day, he visited the historic Durga Temple at Ganj Bazaar, where he offered prayers for the peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Himachal Pradesh. Lady Governor Bindu Gupta accompanied him during the visit.
MLA Vinod Sultanpuri, Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma, senior officials, members of the Shoolini Mela Committee, Red Cross representatives and a large number of people were present at the event.
