CM Sukhu inaugurated the 3-Tesla MRI facility at Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialities (AIMSS), Chamiyana, Shimla, making it the second government healthcare institution in Himachal Pradesh after IGMC Shimla to have this advanced technology.
Installed at a cost of around Rs. 23 crore, the next-generation MRI system will provide high-quality imaging, faster scanning and improved diagnostic accuracy, enabling better treatment of complex medical conditions.
The Chief Minister said strengthening government healthcare institutions with modern technology is a priority of the state government. He said the facility will provide patients advanced diagnostic services within the institution, saving time and expenses.
He said healthcare and education remain key focus areas, with continuous efforts underway to upgrade medical infrastructure, fill vacant posts and provide affordable, quality healthcare services.
Highlighting government initiatives, the Chief Minister said outdated equipment is being replaced with modern systems. He informed that similar advanced technologies would be introduced in other government medical colleges and Rs. 125 crore would be invested in automated laboratories for faster and accurate diagnostics.
He said AIMSS Chamiyana is being developed as a centre of advanced healthcare, with robotic surgery services already introduced in the state. Similar facilities have been extended to other government medical colleges, providing specialised treatment at subsidised rates.
During his visit, the Chief Minister reviewed the institute’s functioning and announced measures to improve connectivity and manpower. He also launched the AIMSS mobile application and a cleanliness monitoring system to enhance patient services and hygiene standards.
