Observed every year on September 10th, World Suicide Prevention Day serves as a vital global platform to focus attention on mental health awareness, reduce social stigma, and foster open dialogues around suicide. Established in 2003 by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) alongside the World Health Organization (WHO), this dedicated day brings together healthcare professionals, community leaders, and advocates from over 40 countries to share evidence-based strategies and support systems. Centered on the recurring triennial theme “Changing the Narrative on Suicide”, the initiative aims to shift society away from silence and judgment toward empathy, early intervention, and accessible mental health care, reminding communities that every action can help save a life.
