Cottonians Young Footballers Unrivalled Winners – Inter School Football Tournament, 2015

bcs.22.8.15insideFilled with immense spirit of sportsmanship and zeal, the Bishop George Edward Lynch Cotton Memorial Inter School Football Tournament, 2015 was held in Bishop Cotton School here today. The chief guest for the event was Pradeep Kumar, the proud former Indian Football Player and General Secretary, Football Association of Punjab who had represented India in many International Tournaments.

In all six teams participated in the tournament including  Bishop Cotton School, Shimla; Rashtrya Military School, Chail;  Durga Public School, Solan;  DAV School, Solan; The Lawrence School, Sanawar; and Pinegrove School, Sabathu. The final nail biting match was held between Bishop Cotton School and Pinegrove. The unrivalled winner of the tournament was Bishop Cotton School, winning all their six matches, scoring 19 goals in total while sweeping away the finals by 2 – 0.

bcs.22.8.15inside1The individual achievement awards were given to Akshit Rathore from BCS for being the top scorer; Digvijay from Pinegrove was adjudged as the best forward; Mowaaz Ahmed from BCS was the best mid field player of the tournament; Prabhat Aggarwal from BCS was the best man on the pitch for the tournament; Digvijay Chauhan from BC S was adjudged as the best defender; Balbhadra Singh from BCS was the man of the match and finally Rohit Verma from DAV School bagged the best Goal Keeper award.

The team positions were as follows: 1st Bishop Cotton School; 2nd Pinegrove School; 3rd – Durga Public School; 4th DAV School, Solan; 5th – Rashtrya Miltary School, Chail; 6th The Lawrence School, Sanawar.

The sporting event concluded with a vote of thanks by the School Headmaster R.C. Robinson and presentation of memento by the chief guest who lauded the efforts of the boys for an amazing display of sportsmanship during the competition.
