Plantation Campaign through Eco Club Schools & Colleges

State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, Himachal Pradesh as a Nodal Agency has established 3000 Eco-Clubs in the schools of Himachal Pradesh. 250 Eco clubs have been established per district under National Green Corps (NGC) programme funded by Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of India. The State Council for Science, Technology & Environment is organizing a One Day Massive Plantation Campaign throughout Himachal Pradesh.

All the Eco Clubs will actively participate in the Plantation campaign. The objective of the campaign is to spread the green message through the members of Eco clubs. The children will propagate the message “Save the Environment – Plant a Tree”. The plantation campaign will take place on 12th August 2016; International Youth Day. To make the plantation campaign successful various departments like Forest Department, District Administration, Education Department all the Deputy Directors of Education at district level are actively involved in the campaign.

On this day each Eco club will plant 50 tall saplings in and around the school/college premises. The Forest Department will provide the saplings to each Eco club in collaboration with the District Science Supervisor. The Eco Club-Incharge’s will identify the place/land for the plantation and collect the plants for their respective Eco clubs. The field staff of the Forest Department will facilitate in plantation campaign. The outcome of the campaign will result in total plantation of 1.50 lacs plants in a single day throughout the state in 3000 schools and 94 colleges.

The State level plantation campaign programme will be organized in Govt Sen. Sec School, Shoghi, Shimla by the State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, Himachal Pradesh in association with Deputy Director of Elementary Education, Shimla. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Secretary Education Govt. of H.P. will plant a sapling in the School area and preside over the function. The District Level plantation function will also be organized at all district headquarter by the Deputy Directors of Elementary Education.
