UPSC Defers Civil Services Preliminary Exam

Shimla/New Delhi (UNI), 4th May, 2020

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) defered till further orders, the civil services preliminary examination, scheduled to be held on May 31. The Commission held a special meeting to review the situation after the end of second phase of the nationwide lockdown imposed to arrest the spread of COVID-19.

Taking notice of of restrictions, the Commission decided that it will not be possible to resume examinations and interviews for the present. “The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2020, scheduled to be held on May 31, 2020 therefore stands deferred”, the UPSC said in a comminique.

However, the Commission apprised that the situation will be reviewed again on May 20 and fresh dates for these examinations will be notified on the UPSC website in due course.
The UPSC also deferred the Indian Forest Service Examination as civil services prelims paper also serves as the screening test for it. The Commission assured that the candidates will be given a time period of 30 days as and when the new dates are announced.
