A new water tariff regime will be implemented from March 1, 2026, introducing a revised slab-based pricing system for domestic, commercial, and hospitality consumers across Municipal Committee limits and outside areas. Under the updated structure, domestic users within municipal limits will be charged ₹22.93 to ₹71.16 per kilo litre depending on consumption, while those outside the limits will face higher rates ranging from ₹52.17 to ₹110.69 per kilo litre, along with revised monthly maintenance and faulty meter charges. Commercial consumers will also see a restructuring of slabs with rates between ₹63.24 and ₹181.85 per kilo litre, while hotels and restaurants will fall under a premium category charged between ₹126.28 and ₹231.49 per kilo litre based on usage. The revised policy further tightens norms by significantly increasing penalties for plugged connections and faulty meters, with monthly charges rising up to ₹9,242.28 for commercial establishments, aimed at strengthening accountability and efficient water management.
