Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today announced that a separate cadre will be created for teachers of CBSE-based schools being established across Himachal Pradesh. He said that 100 such schools are being set up in the first phase, each with subject-specific teachers and a distinct dress code for students.

Addressing a large public gathering at Mamligh in Solan district, the Chief Minister also announced the upgradation of Mamligh Sub-Tehsil to a full-fledged Tehsil and the opening of a Public Works Department sub-division in Mamligh.

During his visit, the Chief Minister dedicated and laid foundation stones of development projects worth Rs. 27.43 crore, including the Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day Boarding School, Industrial Training Institute Sayri, and a Solar Power Plant at Kayasu. He also announced Rs. 50 lakh for the construction of a school roof and Rs. 50,000 to promote cultural activities.

Sukhu said that the state government has undertaken major reforms to improve education quality, which has elevated Himachal Pradesh’s ranking from 21st to 5th nationally. He criticized the previous BJP government for frequent teacher transfers and opening schools for political gains, adding that the present administration has closed such institutions opened in the last six months of the previous regime.

Highlighting other initiatives, the Chief Minister said Revenue Lok Adalats and the ‘My Deed’ project have been launched to modernize land registration, allowing online registration without repeated office visits.

He added that the government is investing Rs. 3,000 crore to strengthen the health sector with AIIMS-level medical technology, including robotic surgery facilities at Chamiyana and Tanda, and automated laboratories worth Rs. 75 crore in major hospitals for simultaneous multi-test processing.

The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to strengthening the rural economy, stating that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of cow milk has been raised to Rs. 51 per litre and buffalo milk to Rs. 61 per litre. Natural farming produce like wheat, maize, turmeric, and barley is being procured at remunerative rates to ensure fair returns for farmers.

Reaffirming his government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, Sukhu said the previous BJP regime caused major financial losses to the state by allotting 5,000 bighas of land worth Rs. 1,000 crore for just Rs. 14 crore and offering free electricity and water to investors.

He further said that after the implementation of GST, Himachal suffered significant revenue loss and that the Union Government’s compensation stopped in July 2022. The previous government, despite receiving Rs. 50,000 crore in additional funds, failed to use it for public welfare, forcing the present government to raise loans to repay old debts.

On his arrival at Mamligh, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil and local residents accorded a warm welcome to the Chief Minister. Dr. Shandil thanked him for laying the foundation stone of the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School at Mamligh and for his commitment to improving the education and health sectors in the state.
