CBSE Workshop Equips Educators for Wellness and Health Challenges

A two-day capacity building workshop are organize for teachers by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on 6th and 7th March, 2025 at St. Thomas School, Shimla. The theme of this workshop is School Health and Wellness under Ayushman Bharat was chosen by the school. 

As the keynote speaker and resource person, Principal of Sri Aurobindo Public School Baddi, Mrs. Anila Nair and Principal of Gurukul International Senior Secondary School, Dr. Luckhvinder Kaur Arora conducted the entire workshop.

The program started with lighting of the lamp. The guests were welcomed by the Vice Principal of the school, Mrs. Sharon Nanda and the Principal of the school, Mrs. Vidhupriya  Chakravarty, presented a brief description of the entire program to everyone.

Apart from St. Thomas’ School, 6 other schools from the surrounding area also participated in this workshop. Trinity International School Fagu, Rashtriya Military School Chail, Raja Dalip Singh Memorial School Halog, Pinegrove School Subathu, Lakshay Convent School Arki, Mount Shivalik School Jubbarhatti participated. 60 teachers from various schools across the region participated in the workshop.

The aim of this two-day workshop was to enhance the teaching and learning skills of teachers, enabling them to provide high-quality education to their students, with a focus on school health and well-being and to provide teachers with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to create an effective learning environment.

In this workshop, Mrs. Anila Nair and. Dr. Luckhvinder Kaur Arora, were present as keynote speakers and resource persons, brainstormed on these main points in two days, in which topics like developing a healthy lifestyle, emotional health and mental health, interpersonal relationships, values and responsible citizenship, nutrition, health and hygiene, gender equality, substance abuse prevention and management, promoting healthy lifestyle, reproductive health and HIV prevention, promoting healthy life systems, etc. were discussed openly and these topics were explained in detail. 

The workshop included various interactive activities. 

1. Deaf and Mute Activities related to Personal Hygiene 

2. Role-Play

 3. Action Plan Chart 

4. Group Activity 

5. Paper Cup Activity 

6. Activities on Handouts and Worksheets for Teachers 

7. Brain Storming Games etc. 

Resource Persons Sessions: Mrs. Anila Nair and Mrs. Dr. Luckhvinder Kaur Arora conducted interactive and engaging sessions sharing their expertise and experiences with the participants. Their sessions were informative, practical and thought-provoking, which will help teachers gain valuable insights and strategies to enhance their teaching practices in the future.

Participants in their feedback of the two-day workshop appreciated the expertise of the resource persons, interactive sessions and relevance of the topics covered. 

To conclude the programme  St. Thomas School’s STNC Mrs. Anshul Sharma, thanked the resource persons, Principal of Sri Aurobindo Public School Baddi Mrs. Anila Nair and the Principal of Gurukul International Senior Secondary School Dr. Dr. Luckhvinder Kaur Arora and the teachers from various other schools. 

Apart from this, Principal Mrs. Vidhupriya  Chakravarty thanked everyone for the success of the entire workshop and for their cooperation. She said that CBSE/Capacity Building Programme and in-house training will be organized in this way in future as well.
