CM Felicitates Doctors at Doctor’s Award–2025

CM Sukhu on Sunday presided over the Doctor’s Award–2025 ceremony organized by a Hindi daily newspaper at Peterhoff. He lauded newspapers for their constructive role in society, stating that such platforms motivate people, especially women and youth, to excel. The Doctor’s Award, he said, was a commendable initiative recognizing excellence in healthcare.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister felicitated eminent doctors and health professionals for their selfless and outstanding services, including Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Vikrant (AIIMS Bilaspur), Prof. (Dr.) Brij Sharma (AIMSS Shimla), Prof. Sanjeev Sharma (NIA Jaipur), Dr. Sudhir Sharma (AIMSS Chamiyana), Dr. Vikas Sharma (IGMC Shimla), Dr. Kailash Barwal (AIMSS Chamiyana), Dr. Manik Sehgal (Chamba Medical College), Dr. Mukesh Kumar and Dr. Amit Sharma (RPGMC Tanda), along with specialists from Zonal Hospital Mandi and Regional Hospital Reckong Peo. Mr. Pankaj Rai, IAS, Deputy Director (Administration), PGIMER Chandigarh, was also honoured for his visionary leadership in patient-centric healthcare.

Awards were also presented to leading health institutions, including Tenzin Hospital Shimla, Negi Clinic & Nursing Home Theog, Janta Hospital & Piles Centre, Dr. Daksh Khurana Liver & Digestive Care, and Karan Singh Vaidh Ancient Ayurvedas, for delivering quality healthcare services.

Congratulating the awardees, the Chief Minister said the State Government, guided by the vision of Vyavastha Parivartan, has accorded top priority to the health sector, bringing visible improvements through reforms and decisive governance over the past three years. He highlighted major initiatives such as the introduction of robotic surgery at AIMSS Chamiyana and Tanda Medical College, expansion of advanced healthcare infrastructure with an investment of ₹3,000 crore, recruitment of doctors, reduction in resident doctors’ duty hours, and enhancement of stipends.

He also outlined progress in education, social welfare, and tourism, noting improvements in national rankings, support to orphans as “Children of the State,” establishment of specialized institutions, and development of Kangra as the tourism capital of Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier, Principal Editor of Divya Himachal Anil Soni welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries and highlighted the newspaper’s contributions to social development.
