CM Sukhu on Friday assured that the situation in the disaster-affected Seraj constituency of Mandi district, hit by recent torrential rains, is steadily returning to normal. Speaking to media, he announced that the state government will provide ₹5,000 per month as rent assistance to families whose homes were damaged in the disaster.
CM Sukhu also appealed to residents of the Seraj area with safe and undamaged homes to offer additional accommodation on rent to families who have lost their homes. He added that he would personally visit the affected areas again for a ground-level review of the situation.
The Chief Minister further stated that essential food supplies are being provided to affected families, with clear instructions issued to the concerned departments. Relief materials are being delivered through mules, porters, and army personnel, and some blocked routes have now been reopened.
With the Meteorological Department issuing a red alert for Sunday, the Chief Minister assured that the state machinery is on high alert. He also informed that Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri has been in the affected areas since Friday, while Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh will visit on Saturday to oversee rescue and rehabilitation operations.
