CM Unveils ₹78.47 Crore Development Package for Banjar Constituency

Chief Minister Sukhu launched a comprehensive development initiative worth ₹78.47 crore in the Banjar assembly constituency of Kullu district, during a public event at Dehuri. The initiative includes the inauguration of seven completed projects and the foundation laying for twelve new ones, aimed at enhancing infrastructure, connectivity, and public utilities across the region.

Key inaugurated projects include the ₹7.32 crore Banjar bypass and bridge, a ₹1.38 crore bridge at Manglour on NH-305, and multiple lift water supply schemes such as the ₹2.80 crore project covering Tinda Sharan, Bijohi, and nearby villages. Other notable projects include a ₹2.06 crore drinking water scheme under the Har Ghar Nal Se Jal program, a ₹2.80 crore multi-level parking facility at Banjar bus stand, and a ₹1.35 crore modern science laboratory at Sainj.

Foundation stones were laid for major road and bridge works, including the ₹4.73 crore Johal Jeshta Ashni Puin road, ₹4.65 crore Jawal Tinda–Seri Bella Beogi road, and a ₹7.11 crore bridge over the Tirthan river. Several single-span steel truss bridges over Sainj khad, with investments of ₹6.20 crore and ₹5.82 crore, were also initiated.

A significant portion of the package—over ₹26 crore—has been allocated for flood protection and restoration works. These include ₹8.02 crore for flood defenses along the Beas river from Sharabai to Bajaura, ₹4.85 crore on Tirthan Jibhi khad near Dwala Shari, and ₹6.35 crore across various vulnerable sites on Jibhi and Tirthan khads in tehsil Banjar.

Highlighting the importance of sustainable development, CM Sukhu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving basic infrastructure and disaster resilience to uplift the quality of life in rural and semi-urban areas.
