Cultural Programme by Differently-abled Children – Bishop Cotton School

Foda.DAnce.23.10.15aThe participants of Festival of Differently Able (FODA) presented an outstanding cultural event held here today. The chief guest for the occasion was Principal Bimla Rathore, ECI Chalet Day School. Braving the chills, children displayed sparkling dancing abilities and gave dazzling performances on popular songs like Blue Eyes and Chittiyan Kalaiyan.  Various institutes including  Asha Kiran, Bilaspur; Astha, Nahan;  Chinamay Ashram, Dharamshala; Chetna Sansthan, Bilaspur; Government Senior Secconday School, Dharamshala; presented Naati and other dances. Reflecting the spirit of patriotism the talented children of National Association for the Blind, Kullu danced to the rhythmic beats of India Waale. These extraordinary stars not only showcased their dancing skills but also sang some melodic qawaalis like Bhar de Jholi from the very popular movie Bajrangi Bhaijan. Everybody was taken aback by the flawless dance performances and sheer singing talent of these special children.

Bishop Cottons Headmaster Christopher Robinson appreciated the efforts of the students as well as the escorts who had come along with the groups and said, “The festival aims at motivating the challenged children who are different from normal children but have oodles of talent hidden in them. About 200 talented stars from various schools for handicapped performed on the stage and we should appreciate their efforts and acknowledge their talents and the hard work put in by the teachers”.

The colourful cultural event concluded with felicitating of the teachers from all the participating schools’ who play a major part in shaping the hidden talents of these children.

The chief guest appreciated and praised the efforts of the children and said, “I did not expect such an outstanding performance by these students, the dumb and deaf students danced so brilliantly and perfectly without missing even a single beat. I would like to congratulate Christopher Robinson and his wife Dorothy Robinson, who have taken this initiative and given these children a platform to showcase their talent and encourage them to do better”.

These talented students yet again compelled the spectators to realize their talent , who overpowered their disabilities by displaying some immaculate and laudable talent on the stage.
