In a strong push towards environmental sustainability, Sukhu flagged off a symbolic Cycle Run from Oak Over, Shimla today, marking World Environment Day. The event aimed to raise awareness about the pressing issue of plastic pollution and was organized jointly by the Department of Environment, Science, Technology & Climate Change and the Himachal Pradesh Council for Science, Technology & Environment (HIMCOSTE).
During the event, the Chief Minister also launched two major initiatives:
-
Plastic Neutral Himachal – 2030 Campaign
-
Clean Shimla Drive
These efforts underscore the state’s commitment to tackling plastic pollution through sustained public engagement and policy action.
Participants in the cycle run included students, volunteers, Home Guard jawans, and citizens from diverse walks of life. CM administered a pledge to all participants to work collectively towards making Himachal Pradesh a plastic-neutral state.

He urged people to adopt eco-conscious habits and support the state’s efforts to eliminate plastic waste.
