Deputy Commissioner Shimla Amit Kashyap issued guidelines to the educational institutions of the district for ensuring safety of the students during execution of picnic and tours in and out of the State. He said this step had been taken by the District Administration keeping in view the general apprehension of the parents about safety of their children. He said the educational institutions will have to take written permission of the district administration prior to departure, on picnic or any other tour so that in case of any emergency immediate assistance could be provided by the administration.

He emphasized that list of contact numbers of parents or guardians and student-adult ratio must be ensured to conduct proper safety orientation. He further added that the institutions should physically check the proper documentation of vehicle or buses provided by the vendor and also ensure the upmost quality of transport facilities. Besides, safety gears must also be ensured during camping or adventure tours by the participants such as helmets, etc.

Kashyap said that tours must be executed through registered travel agents or companies under tourism department. They should have proper medical kit, provide good food and ensure safety of girl participants and ample female staff should be provided by the institutions.

He said that while going to other states institutional administration must inform the local administration of concerned State well in advance. He said that in case of visit to any amusement park, high or dangerous rides or carting, the members of the institutions must ensure proper briefing regarding safety measures. The institution must ensure that deployed staff should not be under the influence of any type of intoxicant during the tour.
