St. Edward’s School celebrated its 97th Founders’ Day to commemorate its legacy and success with great verve and reverence, as it was founded by the Irish Christian Brothers on 9 th March 1925. Over these glorious 97 years, Edward’s has produced many distinguished alumni who have made the school and country proud like Former Vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Late Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, Chief Justice Sanjay Karol, Late Shri Virbhadra Singh, Raj Mohan Vohra (Mahavir Chakra Recipient and Commander of The Eastern Command, Indian Army) and the list is endless. These iconic personalities have truly lived up to the school motto ‘Lumen Sequere’.

This propitious day started with the welcome of the chief guest Major General Shivinder Singh, (Prof., HOD and Consultant Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Command Hospital, Lucknow) an alumnus of the school and other esteemed alumni, who had come to cherish and relive their school memories.

The function began with the unfurling of the School flag by the Chief Guest followed by the school anthem which perfectly captured the core essence of the school’s tribute to the Founders. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was followed by a soul meditation which evoked the presence of the divine amidst all present.

An extravaganza of activities included an immaculate musical rendition, scintillating stuti and poem recitation. The Annual Report was presented and the achievements of the school were recounted. Despite the COVID pandemic, initiatives were taken to helps students participate in debates, sports, competitions, paintings, academic competitions, Olympiads at the school, inter-school and at the state level, thus winning accolades. The school also commemorated Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat, an alumnus whose valour will always inspire generations for ages.

The official Instagram account of the school was also launched.

The programme was steered forward by a panel discussion with Dr. Pratibha Chauhan, Arun Uniyal, and Sahil Sharma on the topic, ‘The Fourth Pillar (Media and its Relevance)’.

The special achievers of the school who not only made the school but also the state proud: Rajbir Singh Sian, Armaan Mahajan, Arunoday Sharma, Advay Chandel, Nikshay Chauhan, Abhijay Nagal, Suketu Bhengra, Vardaan Aggarwal, Karunesh Dhaulta, Rudransh Jindal, Jyotiraditya Singh Chandel were felicitated by the Chief Guest. Sunita Jaggi and Punita Sharma who have served the institute for many years were also felicitated for their dedicated services. In his address, the Chief Guest shared memories of his school days and expressed his happiness at the growth of the school, along with expressing his appreciation towards the vision of the school Principal, Reverend Father Anil Wilson Sequeira.
