It was a day of fun, food and games at Chapslee School, Shimla with weather God being specially kind to them. The fete started sharp at eleven in the morning as children and parents could be seen thronging the school grounds which were full of stalls, stalls and more stalls. There were a variety of games — shooting, basketball, skittles, ring the duck, chocolate wheel, lucky dip, blind fold, darts, pool and big mouth! A long queue could be seen for shooting and chocolate wheel. Little ones were all for the Lucky Dip as they were sure to carry away a prize for a mere rupees five!
The Request Corner was the place for young boys and girls and they dedicated many songs to their teachers and friends. Preserves was the place to be in if pickles and chutneys tingle your taste buds. Further still This and That showcased a variety of things ranging from woollen sweaters to table cloth and aprons — all available at nominal prices!
While Computer Games was where little boys found their calling, it was Tambola all the way for parents. But there was dance and hungama for the senior children who simply danced their way to the Jam Session.
As we moved on the aroma of spices and an array of dishes were enough to act as appetizers for all. The food stalls could boast of an amazing variety as well from Chana Bhatura, Sandwiches, Sambhar Vada, Custard, Bhel Puri to Kadhi Chawal, Tikki, Dhokla, Gol Gappe, Chaat, Pav Bhaji, Ice Cream and Samosa with a hot cup of Tea! But it was the ever famous Rasna that the school has been making for years that was a hit with children once again.
It was an enjoyable Sunday for the students and their families. School Principal, Sudershan Dogra, said that the aim of the school in conducting the fete every year is to make students enjoy at a reasonable cost. It is a major event conducted by the school every year!
There were also two Surprise Hampers won by Muskaan of Class X and Diksha of Class IV and two Cake Raffles which were carried home by Abhinav of Class IX and Adik of Class VIII.
