In the wake of relentless rainfall triggering landslides and causing significant damage to homes and lives, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla visited the affected Krishna Nagar area in Shimla. During his visit, he reached out to the affected families who had to evacuate their homes due to the landslides, finding shelter in a nearby community hall.

The Governor engaged with the affected families, offering them assurance of comprehensive support during this challenging time. To alleviate their plight, he distributed relief materials in collaboration with the State Red Cross. Present at the occasion were Vikramaditya Singh, the Public Works Minister, and Dr. Sadhna Thakur, a member of the National Red Cross Management Committee.

The recent heavy rainfall has taken a toll on Shimla town, leading to multiple landslides that have resulted in considerable loss of life and property. A significant number of houses have collapsed, while others are under imminent threat, particularly in Krishna Nagar. Approximately 250 to 300 families have been impacted by this disaster, as reported by the affected residents.

Governor Shukla emphasized the importance of solidarity during times of crisis, urging individuals to step up and contribute to relief efforts. He acknowledged the state government’s active role in extending relief measures and expressed his personal commitment to supporting the affected community.

Addressing the immediate safety concerns, Governor Shukla instructed the district administration to take swift action in removing trees that pose a threat to the compromised houses. He stressed the necessity of providing essential facilities to the displaced families currently taking shelter in the community hall.

In this hour of adversity, the Governor’s visit and proactive initiatives underscore the collective responsibility to support those affected by the disaster. As the state government and local authorities continue their relief endeavors, the spirit of unity remains pivotal in navigating through these challenges.
