Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said that Ayurveda, Yoga and other ancient medicine systems of India should be integrated with the modern allopathy system to ensure the overall health of all the citizens of the country and to provide them with the best and effective medical facilities. Physicians and scientists working in different medicine systems should work together without any confrontation and should give full respect to each other’s medical system. The Governor was addressing a seminar on the theme ‘One Nation One Health System’ organized by the Himachal Pradesh unit of Arogya Bharti at Raj Bhavan today.

Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said that unfortunately, we had forgotten the ancient systems like Yoga and Ayurveda while adopting modern medicine. But, now commendable work is being done in the direction of encouraging these ancient traditional systems and integrating these with modern medicine, said the Governor. He said that today we need to have a ‘patient centric’ approach instead of ‘pathy centric’ approach in our health system, it would ensure holistic and effective medical services to the people. He said that Arogya Bharti was doing commendable work in bringing the various systems of medicine together and developing a holistic health system in the country. The Governor said that organizing a seminar on the important topic like ‘One Nation One Health System’ would definitely yield fruitful results and would prove to be very helpful in formulating the best National Health Policy in the years to come.

Earlier, National President of Arogya Bharti Dr. Rakesh Pandit and Organizing Secretary Dr. Ashok Kumar Varshney apprised about the importance of ‘One Nation One Health System’ and Arogya Bharti’s efforts in this direction. State General Secretary of Arogya Bharti Dr. Hemraj Sharma welcomed the Governor, other resource persons and all the participants. Dr. Akshay Anand, Head of Neuro Sciences Research, PGI Chandigarh and Dr. Indranil Basu, an expert from Varanasi highlighted the various aspects of Integrated Health System. Dr. Jwahar Kaul conducted the seminar. Secretary to Governor Rajesh Sharma, Secretary of AYUSH department Rajeev Sharma, Director AYUSH Vinay Singh, Mission Director National Health Mission Hemraj Berwa, Additional Director of Health Department Rajeev Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Atal Medical University Ner Chowk Dr. Surendra Kashyap, Director of Health Education Dr. Rajneesh Pathania, State Vice President of Arogya Bharti Dr. Anil Mehta, officers of the health department and senior officers of various Medical and Ayurveda institutions also gave important suggestions during the seminar.
