Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that all necessary formalities for introducing electric buses in Himachal Pradesh are being completed and the buses will be put into operation shortly. He added that four new e-depots being developed in the state will also start functioning soon.

Chairing the 163rd meeting of the Board of Directors of Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC), Agnihotri reviewed various issues related to corporation operations, passenger facilities and strengthening of the public transport network.

The meeting also discussed preparations and trial runs for the phased induction of 297 electric buses into the HRTC fleet.

Expressing concern over the shortage of tyres for HRTC buses, the Deputy CM directed officials to ensure uninterrupted bus services by maintaining adequate availability of tyres, spare parts and other essential materials. He stressed the need for advance planning and alternative arrangements to avoid disruption of passenger services.

Agnihotri said the state government is working towards creating a modern, safe and environment-friendly public transport system. He said the introduction of electric buses and new e-depots will promote green mobility and provide passengers with improved and convenient transport facilities.
