The Directorate of School Education, Himachal Pradesh, has instructed several Government Senior Secondary Schools (GSSSs) across districts including Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, and Sirmaur to begin admissions and academic activities for the 2026–27 session under the CBSE framework.

According to an official communication issued from Shimla, the proposal to shift these schools from the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is currently under consideration. The delay in granting affiliation has been attributed to the transition of CBSE’s online system from SARAS 6.0 to SARAS 7.0.

Despite the pending approval, authorities have directed school principals to proceed with admissions from Balvatika-I to Class 12 and to start academic sessions in line with CBSE norms. The move aims to prevent disruption for students and ensure continuity in learning, especially as CBSE-affiliated institutions nationwide have already commenced their admission process from April 1, 2026.

The directive emphasizes strict adherence to CBSE by-laws and guidelines while conducting admissions and running classes until formal affiliation is granted.
