Important Messages through Inter School Fancy Dress Competition — AHGS

AHGS.11.5.16aContinuing the celebrations of Auckland’s 150th year of establishment an Inter School Fancy Dress Competition was organized by management in the girls school today. The competition was divided into two categories that is – Juniors in which students from Classes 1 to 8 and Seniors wherein Classes 9 onwards participated.

For Group A the theme was characters from fairy tales wherein students were seen dressed as witches, Red Riding Hood and Pipe Piper among others. In Group B the theme was eat healthy, students showcased themselves as a Punjabi girl, junk food, honey bee, vegetables, fruits and ailing teeth. For Group C the topic was environment issues as students voiced their problems about nature as a human time bomb, deforestation, birds, nature, trees and tiger cub and so on. Group D based on social evil, as students were seen dressed to depict child labour, acid attack, domestic violence, sex worker and dowry.

AHGS.11.5.16Various schools including DAV New Shimla, DAV Lakkar Bazaar, St. Edwards, Auckland House for Boys and Girls, Loreto Convent Tara Hall, Convent of Jesus & Mary, Monal Public School and Chapslee participated in the fancy dress competition.

Meenakshi Faithpaul ex-alumina of Auckland and Lecturer of English Department, Evening College Shimla and Neela Bali, Lecturer St Bede’s College were present as chief guests for the day, who extremely enjoyed the performances of the students.

As for the results of the competition:

Group A – St. Edward first, Convent of Jesus & Mary second, Monal Public School third and consolation prize DAV Lakkar Bazaar.

Group B – DAV New Shimla first, St. Edward second, Convent of Jesus & Mary third and consolation prize Monal Public School.

Group C – Loreto Convent Tara Hall first, Auckland House Girls second, DAV New Shimla third and consolation prize Convent of Jesus & Mary.

Group D – Loreto Convent Tara Hall first, Convent of Jesus & Mary second, Auckland House Girls School third and consolation prize Monal Public School.
