Pre-primary section of St. Thomas School, Girdharipura and DCM Jaipur celebrated Independence Day with great fanfare and enthusiasm. Princial Sonal Sharma welcomed the Chief Guest Rev. Father Biju Daniel, Chairman, Trustee Gee Varghese and Secretary Shaji Thomas. Vice Principal Punamma Mathai, Coordinator Soaye Daniel and Headmistress Nivedita Doegar were also present.

School Principal enlightened the tiny tots about the importance of the day and how freedom was achieved on 15th August, 1947 and that the first prime minister was Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who hoisted the national flag at Red Fort. She further added that Independence Day is a national festival which is equivalent to Holi, Dushera, Diwali and Christmas.

St Thomas School JaipurOn the occasion children were dressed in tri-colour clothes. Children of both DCM and Girdharipura School presented a cultural programme.

Students of Girdharipura School presented the following programmes:  a poem by Nursery, LKG and UKG – Tyag Tapasya; action song by Nursery Hum Chotey Chotey Bache hai; action song LKG India Wale; poem by UKG and Class – I Bharat Mera Pyara Desh; dance by UKG It Happens only in India; and dance by Class – I Fir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani.

St Thomas School JaipurStudents of DCM School presented the following: dance by Nursery Nanha Munna Rahi Hu; poem Mera Bharat by Angel M. Biju of UKG; group song Saare Jahan Se Accha by UKG. Dance Fir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani by LKG; poem Jhanda by Jenny Mary Varghese. Dance Kandho se Milte hai Kandhey by classes LKG and UKG. The finale performance of the function was a dance Independence Day Patriotic Mash Up by UKG.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and sweets were distributed amongst the students.
