Students of Loreto Convent Tara Hall School, Shimla (Junior Section) celebrated ‘Grandparents Day’ in order to express gratitude, respect and admiration to their pillars of support. Students of Classes III, IV and V who were dressed up in colorful attire were excited to perform before their grandparents.

More than four hundred and fifty grandparents enjoyed the hospitality of their grand children. They were welcomed in a traditional way, with a little token of gratitude especially made by their granddaughters. The programme started with the welcoming of the grandparents which was followed by devotional prayer dance performed by the girls.

Various highlights of the event were rhythmic dances, poem recitation in Hindi, a famous poem ‘Seven Ages of Man’ by William Shakespeare which was beautifully enacted by the students of Class V. The patriotic dance on the song ‘Teri Mitti’ left the grandparents spellbound.

To balance the tones set by the events various entertainment programmes such as parody of old songs, qawwali, a retro mash-up and games were organized in which grandparents participated with great zeal and the winner grandparents from the games were applauded and small gifts were given to them. Few grandparents came forward and shared ‘Words of Wisdom’ with children present at the event. The children also took their grandparents around the School premises to show them their classrooms, dance room, computer lab and mathematics lab.
