Governor Kavinder Gupta on Friday presided over the 7th Convocation of Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, where he presented Chancellor’s Gold Medals, Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medals, and other academic honours to meritorious students.
The University awarded 2,244 degrees, including 1,966 B.Tech., 3 Integrated M.Tech., 69 M.Tech., 116 M.Sc., and 90 Ph.D. degrees.
Congratulating JUIT on completing 25 years of academic excellence, the Governor described the Silver Jubilee as a milestone in the University’s contribution to higher education.
Addressing the graduates, Gupta urged them to embrace innovation and use technology for the greater good. Referring to the AI-powered mental health support chatbot developed by JUIT students, he said it exemplifies how technology can address real-world challenges.
He encouraged young researchers to develop solutions for hill-state issues such as disaster management, sustainable agriculture, and healthcare, while also calling for research on Himachal Pradesh’s medicinal plants to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
Highlighting sustainable development, the Governor urged graduates to adopt green technologies and environmentally responsible practices. He also encouraged them to become job creators instead of job seekers, saying entrepreneurship would be key to the state’s economic growth.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.K. Sharma welcomed the Governor and presented the University’s Annual Progress Report.
