Auck.insideYoung minds are impressionable and when they are taught using art and crafts media, little children enjoy as well as grasp the concepts very easily. The Junior Wing, comprising of Forms Nursery to Form II, Auckland House Girls School, displayed few very interesting art and craft exhibits here today during their annual exhibition in the school premises. Rev Lily Samantaroy, Administrator, Diocese of Amritsar, presided over the function as the chief guest, who was led around the hall by Director-Principal Sunita John, Auckland Boys School Principal Micheal A John and Junior Wing Coordinator Vanita Wilson and the junior wing teachers. Rev Samantaroy had an engaging session with the children as she spent time listening to each student describing their exhibits. Director-Principal John said that the idea behind organizing such exhibitions is that children enjoy making art and craft items, at the same time they learn very important lessons when they are taught by visually means and creatively make the models themselves.

Auck.inside2The tiny tots from Nursery Class presented their colourful exhibits such as photo frames, pencil holders, various masks and small models and a presentation on good living habits. The children sweetly described their projects and kept the chief guest engrossed with their presentations. Amolika, Srijal, Tavisha, Arshya, Aneesha, Yashvi, Bhavna and Anjali among others confidently spoke about their work.

The Kindergarten section had prepared craft items using waste material, save water and electricity, being responsible citizens and living free. The walls were adorned with some great art work and craft items, showcasing the talent of young children namely, Ananya Gupta, Parija Sood, Mannat Maan, Jasleen Kaur, Avisha Syal, Sarisha, Gauri Machan, Saumya, Avni Sharma, Angel Chauhan to name a few.

Auck.inside1Students of Form I learnt quite a few interesting facts and the various processes used in ‘Agro-based Industries’ as they explained their projects. 3D model displays of industries such as cotton, jute, silk, sugar and milk processing plant were very informative and well-presented. Students, namely Arzoo, Mavish, Jiya, Aahar and Pritha, described each process with full confidence and poise as they answered any questions put by the chief guest.

Students of Form II too had made few issues based craft items affecting our society today. The children spoke about the ‘national festivals’ and the significance they have in our lives, necessity of ‘first-aid’; and the importance of ‘rainwater harvesting’, ‘deforestation’ and ‘say no to plastics’ was highlighted. Ayushi, Mehak, Tirath, Mavish, Aradhya, Sharanya and Kaira shared valuable information with the chief guest as she inquired them about their projects.

The highlight of the exhibition was a sweet and cute poetry performance by the tiny tots of nursery class as they sung “Old McDonald Had A Farm”, while standing in front of a beautifully depicted centre spread model of a Farm.

Parents too were present in large numbers to encourage their kids, enjoying the work done by their wards as they strolled around the hall listening to various presentations. Their children also proudly pointed out to various exhibits made by them as the day ended on a happy note.
