The Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with C-DAC, launched the Blockchain India Challenge on 23 February 2026 at MeitY, New Delhi. The event was inaugurated by S. Krishnan IAS, Secretary, MeitY, in the presence of senior officials including Abhishek Singh, Sudeep Srivastava, Sunita Verma, and P R Lakshmi Eswari, along with representatives from government departments and startups.

The national initiative invites Indian startups to pitch and pilot cutting-edge blockchain-based solutions for government use cases, focusing on permissioned blockchain systems that ensure security, auditability, and tamper-proof records. Key domains include e-procurement, supply chain, public distribution, education, healthcare, agriculture, power, IoT, land records, environment, and sustainability, though startups are encouraged to propose solutions beyond these areas.

Speaking at the event, Secretary MeitY emphasized that blockchain enables transparency, verifiability, and a single source of truth across multiple government data sources. He encouraged startups to develop field-ready and deployable solutions that can later be scaled across India.

Recognized startups, in collaboration with government departments, will receive stage-wise funding to develop 10 impactful blockchain use cases across different sectors. Interested startups can register and find more details at https://challenge.cdac.in.
