The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will organise a nationwide “Nari Shakti Vandan Run” on April 17 and 18, 2026, across seven major cities to promote women-led development and encourage citizen participation in the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Under the theme #NariShaktiVandan, the event will be held in Delhi, Cuttack, Patna, Mumbai, Indore, Bengaluru, and Jaipur. While Patna and Jaipur will host the run on April 17, the remaining cities—Delhi, Cuttack, Mumbai, Indore, and Bengaluru—will conduct the event on April 18.
The programme will begin in the early morning with participant registration, followed by an inaugural session featuring the felicitation of dignitaries, an address by the chief guest, and administration of the Nari Shakti pledge. A 2–3 km run will then be organised at prominent public locations in each city, concluding with certificate distribution.
The initiative aims to mobilise large-scale participation of women from diverse sections of society, including students, professionals, entrepreneurs, sportspersons, and civil society members. Participation is being facilitated through platforms such as MY Bharat, National Service Scheme, and the Sports Authority of India.
The event is being organised in the context of the special session of Parliament scheduled from April 16 to 18, 2026, during which discussions on women’s representation and delimitation will be held. It aims to raise awareness about women’s participation in governance and democratic processes, aligning with the broader vision of inclusive representation.
The initiative reflects the government’s continued focus on women empowerment and highlights the role of women as key contributors to India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
