Tourists visiting Shimla will soon get a glimpse of the world’s famous seven wonders as the Municipal Corporation Shimla is developing their replicas at key locations including the Ridge, Mall Road and Dhalli Chowk. The initiative aims to boost tourism while promoting environmental conservation and awareness about recycling.

The unique feature of the project is that the replicas are being created using discarded iron and steel materials. Based on the ‘Waste to Wonder’ concept, the structures will transform scrap material into attractive artworks, highlighting the importance of sustainable practices and waste management.

The project includes replicas of globally renowned landmarks such as the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, Christ the Redeemer in Brazil, the Colosseum of Italy and Petra in Jordan. These installations are being designed as selfie points where visitors can capture memorable moments during their stay in Shimla.

The Municipal Corporation has selected some of the city’s most popular tourist locations for these installations. The historic Ridge and Mall Road, already major attractions for visitors, are expected to gain further appeal with these creative artworks, while Dhalli Chowk, the gateway to upper Shimla, will also feature special structures.

According to the Municipal Corporation, the project will not only add a new dimension to Shimla’s tourism landscape but will also spread awareness about cleanliness, recycling and the creative reuse of waste. Once completed, these sites are expected to emerge as new attractions for both tourists and residents.
