A group of Shoolini University students went on a heritage educational tour to Shimla as an aid to a course being taught on “Understanding Heritage”. The tour was conducted by the Dean, Faculty of Liberal Arts Prof. Manju Jaidka and Dr. Ekta Singh of the Department of History. The tour covered two main educational centres, the Himachal State Museum and the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla. At the State Museum, the students got the chance to have a conversation with the curator of the Museum, Dr Hari Chauhan, who gave a brief description of the Museum and the responsibilities of a curator.
Dr Ekta Singh guided and briefed the students about the historical and archaeological events related to those artifacts. The students were also enlightened about the recent archaeological studies in higher Himalayan parts of Himachal Pradesh. A visit to the Indian Institute of Advanced Study followed, where the students were familiarised with the architectural and historical significance of the iconic building.
