The State Food Commission organized a one-day Workshop on Health & Nutrition on Monday, presided over by Chairman Dr. S.P. Katyal. The workshop aimed to equip frontline workers with deeper knowledge of nutrition, better health practices, and government initiatives in the sector. Dr. Katyal appreciated the sincere efforts of the participants and urged them to apply the workshop learnings in their daily field activities to improve health indicators at the grassroots level.

A total of 38 participants, including ASHA workers, mid-day meal workers, and anganwadi workers, attended the workshop. They received training on identifying nutrition-related issues, maintaining field records, and strengthening community outreach. Member Secretary Yogesh Chauhan highlighted the importance of inter-departmental coordination to improve nutritional outcomes in the state.

Representatives from the Women & Child Development Department, Health Department, PM Poshan, and IGMC Shimla shared key insights on balanced nutrition, maternal and child health, mid-day meal standards, and community-level best practices. The workshop concluded with an interactive session, where participants acknowledged the usefulness of the programme and suggested conducting such training sessions regularly for a wider impact.
