Himachal Pradesh Police carried out a state-level special inspection drive under the “Chitta-Mukt Himachal” campaign to prevent misuse of courier services for drug trafficking, a spokesperson said today. The drive forms part of the Anti-Chitta Jan Andolan, launched by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

During the drive, a total of 433 courier warehouses and godowns across the state were thoroughly inspected. District-wise inspections included 43 in Solan, 13 in Kinnaur, 31 in Sirmaur, 40 in Baddi, 69 in Mandi, 34 in Kullu, 1 in Lahaul-Spiti, 37 in Hamirpur, 23 in Bilaspur, 69 in Kangra, 17 in Nurpur, 18 in Dehra, 22 in Chamba, and 16 in Una.

The inspections covered the entire operational chain—from parcel booking and storage to transit and final delivery. Special focus was given to CCTV systems, employee verification, record-keeping, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures. Suspicious parcels were examined carefully, and employees were sensitized on the provisions of the NDPS Act and other relevant laws.

Where procedural lapses were detected, the police issued directions and time-bound corrective measures. Service providers were also briefed on potential red flags and the key do’s and don’ts to prevent courier misuse for drug trafficking.

The spokesperson noted that the drive marks a major step toward strengthening law and order and social security in the state while reinforcing the government’s resolve to achieve a Chitta-Free Himachal.
