Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu graced the cultural evening of the much-celebrated International Minjar Fair, Chamba, as a Chief Guest, marking its closing. In his address, the Chief Minister extended warm greetings to the people of the district on this juncture and wished them a prosperous future. He also released a ‘Souvenir’ to mark the occasion.

While addressing the people, the Chief Minister highlighted his unwavering commitment towards the development of the State and said that Himachal Pradesh has set up an example of the most progressive state besides ensuring the prosperity of its citizens and fostering an environment of inclusive growth. Despite inheriting substantial financial challenges in form of loan amount to the tune of Rs. 75,000 crore and liabilities of Rs. 11,000 crore in the form of arrears, left by previous government, we remain steadfast in our efforts to prioritize the welfare of States employees and its people.

Emphasizing the significance of robust healthcare services, he said that a sum of Rs. 160 crore has been released to expedite the construction of Chamba Medical College, ensuring its timely completion. In a move towards enhancing the road and transportation network, he said that the government has allotted Rs. 52 crore for the double laning of the Sihunta-Lahroo road. Emphasizing the need for improved accessibility, the Chief Minister said that the government was keen to conduct a survey to explore the feasibility of the Chowari-Chamba tunnel underneath Jot.

Necessary funds will be provided to materialize this transformative project, thereby benefiting the community at large. Expressing his gratitude towards the employees of the State, he reiterated his government’s commitment to their overall welfare. Notably, the present government has extended the benefit of Old Pension Scheme (OPS), to its employees ensuring dignified lives in their golden years after retirement. Additionally, the government has taken commendable steps towards uplifting the weaker sections of the state as well. The Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashraya Yojana has been launched focusing on the welfare of orphans.

About 6000 orphans were the beneficiaries of this initiative, ensuring their holistic development through access to their education, enhanced living standards, and vocational training. The Government has embraced these children as the ‘Children of the State,’ symbolizing their commitment to providing them a nurturing environment. Prior to the cultural evening, the Chief Minister paid a visit to the ongoing construction of the Medical College Chamba, inspiring the workforce and directing to expedite the completion of the project.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Speaker, Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, MLAs, Bhawani Singh Pathania, Kewal Singh Pathania, Neeraj Nayyar, former Minister’s, Asha Kumari and Thakur Singh Bharmouri, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson, Amit Bharmouri, and Deputy Commissioner Chamba Apurva Devgan besides other distinguished citizens of the town.
