World Earth Day – St. Thomas School, Shimla, marked World Earth Day on April 22, 2024, with a series of events focusing on the theme ‘Planet vs Plastics’. The objective of this theme was to raise awareness about the harmful effects of single-use plastic and to encourage the search for eco-friendly alternatives.
Events Held:
- Students from classes 9 to 12 presented a Nukkad Natak to explain the theme ‘Planet vs Plastics’, emphasizing the importance of reducing plastic usage and managing e-waste.
- Various competitions including Painting, Declamation, Fancy Dress, and Quiz were organized to engage the students and foster environmental consciousness.
Declamation Competition:
- Students from classes 4 and 5, representing all four houses of the school, participated in the declamation competition.
- Mrs. Meera Samuel, President of YWCA Shimla, and Miss Rohini, General Secretary of YWCA Shimla, judged the competition.

Principal’s Address: Mrs. Vidhupriya Chakravartry, the Principal of the school, emphasized the importance of the ‘Planet vs Plastics’ theme. She encouraged students to reduce the use of single-use plastics and explore sustainable alternatives.
