Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla honoured 42 students of Bharat Scouts and Guides and Rangers and Rovers at Rajbhawan in Shimla for extraordinary performance during the year 2023. He was presiding over the closing ceremony of State level Award and the foundation day function of Bharat Scouts and Guide at Rajbhavan here today. The Governor also awarded certificate of appreciation to 222 State level award winners on the occasion.
Being the patron of Bharat Scouts and Guides Himachal Pradesh, I would like to express my gratitude to all the volunteers associated with the organization and heartily congratulate them on the occasion, said the Governor. Janaki Shukla, the lady governor was also present on the occasion. We all know that Scouting is not a new concept for us but it is an ideology committed for the last more than 100 years for the upliftment of society and community and building personality. Thousands of young men and women are associated globally with it and were doing commendable work in their respective fields.
“I feel extremely proud to say that we are all members of an organization and follow the ideology that has been adopted by more than 200 Nations on the global stage in their daily and practical lives. We represent an organization that has 50 million volunteers across the world engaged in social causes and selfless service, stated Shukla. Bharat Scouts and Guide have proved to be a milestone for young men and women in today’s era. It has shaped the life of many youth who have been able to develop their physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual abilities, thus contributing towards economic development, he said.
Bharat Scouts And Guides Ceremony
This organization aims to break down all kinds of discrimination and create equal opportunities for all the volunteers associated with it. He also appealed to the youth to committedly work for eradication of the drugs by creating mass awareness through their ‘Nishchaya Project’ and lauded the efforts of the scouts in spreading awareness amongst the masses through special campaigns under the project Nishchaya. The Bharat Scouts and Guides have started this innovative campaign with a resolve to fight against the drugs and spread awareness. “I am starting another campaign in collaboration with the state government and incorporate youth to fight against this evil in the State and also ensure that public representatives and common people participate in it at village and Panchayat level,” said Shukla.
He also lauded the efforts of the State Police who was doing a commendable job in eradication of drugs and have also started various awareness campaigns and special one to one motivational sessions. He said that people from all walks of life in the society need to come together and work to end the menace of drugs in the state. Director Higher Education, Amarjeet Sharma gave a detailed report about the activities of Bharat scouts and guides and the activities being carried out by them throughout the year. A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the students on the occasion. Secretary to Governor, Rajesh Sharma, State Commissioner Adult Resources Bharat Scouts and Guides Mrs. Anju Sharma, Deputy Director, Higher Education, Lekh Raj Sharma, were also present on the occasion amongst others.
