CM Sukhu has called upon the people of Himachal Pradesh to actively engage in Census 2026 and take advantage of the online “Self-Enumeration” facility provided by the Directorate of Census Operations. He said residents can feed their details directly on the portal se.census.gov.in from June 1 to June 15, 2026.

Calling the census a cornerstone of democratic governance and development planning, the Chief Minister said it provides a comprehensive picture of population trends, housing conditions, household assets, and access to essential services—data that directly guides government planning and policy decisions.

He added that the census exercise in Himachal Pradesh will be conducted in two structured phases. The first phase, covering house listing and housing data collection, will run from June 16 to July 15, 2026, followed by the population enumeration phase.

Sukhu highlighted that Census 2026 will be conducted in a fully digital format, with field staff using mobile devices to collect and record information, marking a major shift towards technology-driven data collection.

He further informed that in the snow-bound regions of the state, the second phase will be conducted from September 11 to September 30, 2026, while in other areas it will be undertaken from February 9 to February 28, 2027.

Appealing for wide participation, the Chief Minister urged citizens to cooperate fully with census officials and ensure that accurate details are provided, noting that the exercise will play a key role in shaping future development priorities and welfare planning.
