Shimla District Educational Institutions Closed On 25th August

In the wake of an issued yellow alert by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall on August 25, 2023, and considering the current landslides causing road blockages throughout the district, the safety of citizens remains paramount.

Under such challenging circumstances, the movement of staff, school children, trainees, and other individuals is potentially unsafe. Adhering to a precautionary approach, Aditya Negi, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority Shimla, has exercised his authority under Section 34 (M) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

As a result, all Government and Private educational institutions, universities, colleges, schools, vocational training centers, and Anganwari centers are ordered to remain closed for one day, specifically on August 25, 2023. The closure is deemed necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals in the district. The Heads of these institutions have been instructed to strictly adhere to the order, as public safety takes precedence.
