Joint Launch of Collaborative Proposal Call

India and the United States jointly launched a call for collaborative proposals on “Critical and Emerging Technology: Quantum Technologies and Artificial Intelligence for Transforming Lives.” This initiative was led by the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) and the Secretariat for USISTEF, aiming to leverage quantum technologies and AI to drive transformative advancements in various sectors.

Strengthening Bilateral Comprehensive Partnership

The collaborative proposal call aligns with the bilateral comprehensive and global strategic partnership emphasized during Prime Minister Modi’s US visit. Both India and the US swiftly positioned themselves to implement the decisions made by the leaders, signaling a new chapter in their technology partnership.

Advancements in AI and Quantum Technologies

India’s approval of the National Quantum Mission (NQM) demonstrates its commitment to fostering scientific and industrial R&D in Quantum Technology (QT). Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized that AI has the potential to address pressing global challenges and drive economic development in areas such as healthcare, agriculture, and climate change. The US-India Science and Technology Endowment Fund (USISTEF) has launched a $2 million grant program to facilitate joint development and commercialization of AI and quantum technologies.

Call for Proposals and Sustainable Development Goals

The collaborative call invites promising joint Indo-US technology innovation and entrepreneurial proposals that are commercially viable and socially relevant. Open until August 31, 2023, this initiative will contribute to both Indian and US priorities, aligning with various facets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
