Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday inspected the various Panchayats of Rampur assembly constituency which suffered heavy losses due to unprecedented rains and interacted with the local people to know their grievances. The people apprised him about the condition of roads blocked, the disrupted drinking water supply schemes besides damage to the houses etc. The Chief Minister, on the demand of women of Gram Panchayat Nankhadi to restore the roads told that adequate funds were being released to the Panchayats to open the roads still blocked due to landslides.

He said that the Public Works Department was working on a war footing to repair the roads besides clearing them of the debris due to landslips. The Chief Minister said that it was the foremost priority of the government to facilitate the farmers to transport their produce till the markets. Directions were issued to the district administration to immediately release financial assistance of rupees one lakh each to about 50 families in Thana Nankhadi, Barog and Kungan-Balti panchayats, to repair their damaged houses.

He also directed to immediately provide one lakh rupees to the people whose homes have been completely and partially damaged in Poonan village of Barog panchayat and Jawalda village of Bagalti panchayat due to heavy rains. The Chief Minister also heard grievances of the people at Kholighat. The Chief Minister also visited the disaster affected areas of Jarol, Khaneti and Kotgarh of Theog assembly constituency and announced an amount of rupees five lakh for the repair of eight link roads of Gram Panchayat Jarol.

I will soon again visit the area again to review the action taken on his instructions, said Sukhu. He ordered the Rural Development Department to provide adequate budget to speed up the road restoration work in the Panchayats in the Apple belts. The people thanked Chief Minister for enhancing the relief amount by amending the relief manual. Public Works Minister, Vikramaditya Singh, MLA, Nand Lal and Kuldeep Rathore, Chairman State Cooperative Bank, Devendar Shyam, Chairman, Forest Corporation Kehar Singh Khachi, former MLA, Rakesh Singha, DC Aditya Negi, SP Sanjeev Gandhi and other officers were also present on the occasion.
